John Monash Science School

Posted 21 November 2013 by John Grundy (Tutoring News)

Our previous students that have attempted this test have indicated to us that a strong interest in science is a real benefit when sitting this exam. This seems to be consistent with the school's aim of offering placement to those that will benefit most, that is those with proficiency in maths, have clear expression and be able to apply scientific reasoning to problems. The most recent John Monash Science School entrance exam consisted of three tests and two essays. The three tests included mathematics, numerical reasoning and science reasoning. The two essays were based around some prior knowledge of scientific content and process. Diagrams were an integral part of these responses.

It is important to note that this test seems to change from year to year, which is consistent with the school's aim to ensure equity wherever possible, and may continue to do so.
If you have a question about the exam you can post it here.

[ +15 ] For the scientific essay, do they give you general information on that topic you write on?

Also what year level standard is the maths test ? Average Year 9 or higher?
