There are several different formats for scholarship and select entry exams. They all have common elements such as maths, comprehension and writing. This course includes the common elements of all exams in addition to specific tests for each exam format. If you plan to sit more than one format this course will provide familiarity of question types for all exams, including ACER scholarship, ACER HAST select entry, Edutest scholarship and select entry and Allwell scholarship exams.
The course is suitable for students in the second semester of year 5 or beginning year 6 (year 7 in Qld & SA), sitting a test for entry to the first year of secondary school.
Common Elements:
Maths: Decimals and counting, multiples and factors, algebra and logic, number systems, fractions, graphs, measurement, proportion and ratio, and space.
Comprehension: Main idea, drawing conclusions, sequences and inferential reading.
Essay: Creative and opinion writing tutorials and sample essays.
Additional Specific Tests:
Some of these additional elements are included in more than one exam format, therefore it is an advantage that students complete all parts of this course.
Verbal Reasoning: Synonyms, antonyms, analogies, logic
Numerical Reasoning: Sequences, patterns, conditions, porportion, equivalents
Abstract Reasoning: Sequences, analogies, spatial, logic
Exam practice: Five practice exams are included, Numerical and Verbal Reasoning in addition to three Mathematics exams.
