Suzanne Cory High Selective Entry Exam Preparation

At Brainworks, we offer a comprehensive program designed to prepare students for Selective School entrance exams. Brainworks has over 27 years of experience in preparing students for specific entrance exams including the Suzanne Cory High Selective entry exam.

By choosing Brainworks selective entry exam preparation, your child will receive individualised tutoring and a customised selective entry program for Suzanne Cory High School. They will work through content that is targeted to their exam goals, build skills across all subjects, gain question and exam format familiarity and develop exam strategy.

Our Selective exam preparation is structured into modules. Each module consists of 8 weekly sessions, typically lasting 1.5 hours. At the end of each module, students complete a full practice exam. Throughout the course, students focus on the key exam subjects while developing skills and effective test-taking strategies using practice tests.

There are four distinct modules available for our Selective School preparation, each progressively challenging and building on the last. As students advance through the program, our experienced tutors can closely monitor their progress, identify any learning needs or challenges, and address any gaps in knowledge.

Selective Introductory Module- Conducted during term 3 of year 7, it introduces students to the components of the exam and important aspects that can impact on their likelihood of final selection.

Selective Module 1 – Conducted during term 4 of year 7, designed to align student thinking to the exam and its requirements.

Selective Module 2 – Building on previous learning, this module further challenges students and equips them with advanced skills to tackle the Selective School exam. It is typically completed in Term 1 of the exam year.

Selective Module 3 – The final stage of our Selective School preparation pathway, this module further sharpens students' skills and reinforces their knowledge in the lead-up to the exam in June.

At Brainworks, ongoing feedback is an essential part of each module to support student growth. If additional feedback is requested, we’re always happy to provide it at any time.

We aim to do 3 things:

  1. Develop skills across exam subjects
  2. Provide familiarity of questions and format
  3. Develop exam strategy

Preparation can begin at any time during the term because we teach to individuals with a maximum of 6 students per teacher, not to classes.

For the Selective School exam we study English comprehension, verbal reasoning, essay writing, mathematical skills and reasoning and quantitative reasoning.
